Project Description
This project involved creating a digital signage system for Durham College to improve on-campus communication and accessibility. Drawing inspiration from modern transit and airport information displays, the signage was designed to deliver key daily updates—such as time, weather, cafeteria menus, campus events, and announcements—through strategically placed flat-screen monitors. The goal was to provide a clear, efficient flow of information for students, staff, and visitors alike. With a clean, user-focused interface and inclusive design, the system enhances the daily experience and supports better navigation across campus.
Process
The digital signage system was built with six core components: commercial video spots, smaller ad placements, a live weather and date section, a real-time ticker for updates, and a dedicated news pane. Each element was designed to deliver information in a clear, engaging format while maintaining a cohesive visual structure. Developing this system involved advanced front-end coding using HTML, CSS, GSAP, and JavaScript, along with backend integration for dynamic content. Incorporating databases added complexity but also gave me the opportunity to strengthen my technical skills and deepen my understanding of full-stack development.
